Year 5 Specialism Days

From the 8th – 22nd June we have had three hundred and sixty five Year 5 students from fourteen feeder primary schools transported into Selby High School to spend a day working in the school’s two specialism areas, Science and the Arts. We received very positive feedback from both staff and students who enjoyed the day and  the invaluable opportunity to experience the specialist equipment and resources. They were particularly impressed with the science equipment and  thrilled to take home the candle and bath bombs they’d had so much fun creating in the morning sessions. In the afternoon  students experienced two different arts workshops from specialist staff. Highlights included rapping, cartoon creation in art, Ipad work in Media, singing, competitions on the dance mats and a range of drama activities- some led by our very own Selby High School students . Our students also acted as guides and as leaders, proving to be an asset to the school as they behaved in a professional and friendly manner, leading by example, enthusiastically leading and participating and giving advice wherever possible.
