Year 10 STEM Day

On Friday 30th June, More Able Year 10 science students took part in a STEM day, coordinated by Nybep. The day was designed to give students an opportunity to try things they would not learn in the school curriculum.  The morning was spent doing three workshops which consisted of; Virtual Welding with tutors from Selby College, lab experiment with Shampoo Solutions from CRODA and a workshop on the The Life Of Plastics with Fun Science. Students then spent the afternoon in a carousel of Speed Networking, having the opportunity to speak to professionals from STEM industries such as York St John’s University, York College, Sponsored Charity, learning to Leap and Selby College.

Feedback from students showed the day was successful at allowing them to experience new career paths that they previously weren’t aware of.
