University of Leeds

On 25th May 2016, 45 Year 10 students visited the University of Leeds campus as part of the More Able programme. These students were selected either because they have target grades of A/A* at GCSE, or they have the potential to reach the top grades, and was designed to raise their aspirations and give them an idea of what university life is like.

Students took part in workshops and group work which was led by university staff and current students including learning about the pro’s and con’s of higher education, the language used in higher education such as “undergraduate” and “seminar”, and an interactive session about the various clubs and societies that students can take part in while being at university. Students were also taken on a tour of the campus which included a tour of the library, sports facilities and accommodation.

Despite the rain, an informative and enjoyable day was had by the students who were impeccably behaved, and a credit to the school.
