Science Award Winners

Following the presentation of their trophies at the governor's awards ceremony in October, the five winners of science prizes visited the University of York for a photo shoot and to gain a taste of University life.

The Year 11 students, including Madison Whitaker (Physics prize winner), Beth Brown (Biology) Jack Porter (Chemistry) and our Astronomy and Most Promising Scientist winners, also met academics and students from the University. They visited state of the art Chemistry labs, held a 4.5 billion year old asteroid and observed glowing plasma as an iron disk was reduced to a thickness of a few microns.

The photographs will form part of the annual Hall of Fame display of awards winners which proudly lines the walls of the Humanities staircase.
