North Yorkshire Police Lifestyle Challenge 2016

Lifestyle is a project that was set up in 1989 to challenge young people to get involved with their communities, using their spare time to make a real difference.

Young people between the ages of 10 – 17 get together in groups of between 2 and 6, think up a team name and then think of a community based project they can carry out over the summer holidays. The project can be anything, as long as it is of benefit to someone or something in the community. Previous groups have cleaned litter from parks and beaches, launched an anti-crime initiative by informing older people about door step callers, held cake sales and a sports day to raise money for new playground equipment, done magic shows in local residential homes, created conservation areas in woods and green spaces, set up pop-up cafes and lots more.

The winning teams are invited to a ceremony at York Racecourse and the prizes include mountain bikes and PGL adventure holidays.

If students would like to take part, please go on-line at www.northyorkshire.police.uk/lifestyle and complete the registration form. Once they have registered, a pack containing everything they need to get started, including a log book where they record all their hard work and send back to us at the end of the summer to be judged.

A great way to spend time with friends over the summer holidays!
